PayPal Pro Direct Payment (Credit Card) Module Update : March 8, 2011

An issue has been identified in PayPal Pro credit card processing that may prevent certain International credit card transactions to be completed due to recent changes made to PayPal's AVS System (Address Verification Services).

The specific error that you would encounter would be that an international customer would be prompted to enter their United States billing state even though they are an international (NON-US) customer after submitting their credit card transaction for approval. Although they would be prompted to "correct" their billing information by PayPal, their original credit card submission may have been already approved and therefore if they re-submit the transaction again, they may be charged multiple times for the same order and then be still prompted again for their US shipping state.

PayPal is aware of this issue with certain International orders but the patch below will fix your installation and prevent International customers from being prompted for a US state even if PayPal's AVS system returns an invalid error response.

This patch can be applied to any installation of Site Store Pro without affecting store functionality. (All Site Store Pro Version/Editions ) ( This patch can also be applied to store installation's with custom checkout modifications. However, if you are using PayPal Pro to process recurring "subscription" payments, please contact support for addiitonal info/requirements)

SITE STORE PRO PAYPAL PRO DIRECT PAYMENT UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

1) Extract the file called paypal_dodirectpayment.asp from the paypal_direct_payment_update.zip file to a temporary location on your local system or to /SiteStorePro/Checkout/PayPal/ in your local Dreamweaver site definition folder.

2) Upload the extracted paypal_dodirectpayment.asp file to your webserver (hosting account) and overwrite the file with the same name located in:

/SiteStorePro/Checkout/PayPal/

This patch will be included in all future versions of Site Store Pro but it is recommended that it be applied now to any installation that is using PayPal Pro to process credit card transactions.
